What happens during the massage?
- Upon arrival, I will set up my massage table in the space you have provided. I will bring all sheets and oils needed. I will then run through the initial consultation, referencing your pre-completed form, and discussing any further matters arising, or areas of concern.
- It is important to raise all health issues and current medications, so that I can adapt the session to your specific needs without doing any harm. I welcome any questions and together we will agree a massage plan.
- I will leave the room for you to undress and make yourself comfortable under the drapes on the massage couch.
- You will remain covered for the duration of the massage, and I will only expose the area being worked on as agreed.
- I will use unscented natural massage oils. Do let me know of any allergens prior to your session.
- You are encouraged to give feedback as to pressure and pace etc throughout the massage as required so as to receive what you want.
- Other than above I tend to work in silence, so you can completely relax, and you can also choose to have background music
Will you be using a massage table?
- Yes, I will bring my professional massage table with me.
- I am unable to provide the massage on the floor or on a bed.
Do I need to provide anything?
- All you need to provide is a quiet space for the massage table with enough room for me to move around it. (Approximately 2m x 3m)
Can I eat or drink before the massage?
- It is best to avoid eating a full meal or drinking lots immediately before your massage session. It's also advisable to not drink alcohol before a massage.
Should I shower before the massage?
- It is a good idea to take a warm shower a short while before your massage therapist arrives. This will both cleanse and warm your body, as well as shift your mind to a slightly more relaxed state, preparing you for the treatment.
Should I talk to my massage therapist during my treatment?
- This is completely up to you. Always speak up immediately if you feel something isn't quite right, eg: lighter pressure, feeling cold. I will listen and adapt my treatment accordingly.
What should I wear during my massage?
- Only undress to your level of comfort. You will be draped at all times and only the area I'm currently massaging will be uncovered. You will always have the option of stopping or changing any aspect of the massage if you feel uncomfortable at any point.
What should I do after my massage?
- I'd recommend that you drink water after the massage. Water will help you to rehydrate and it is said that drinking water after a massage can help to flush away any toxins released by the treatment.
- It's advisable to avoid alcohol after a massage too
What are the side effects of receiving a massage?
- There are no known serious side affects from getting a good quality massage. You may feel a little lightheaded, emotional, or experience some soreness in your muscles the day after getting a massage. These are natural reactions to being massaged well and usually nothing to worry about.
